The National Park Service and the National Park Foundation offer free admission to any of America’s national parks during National Park Week, April 16 to 24, 2016. The national park community invites you to share your stories, memories, videos, and photos of the national parks throughout the week, which is being called “America’s largest celebration of national heritage.”
The opportunities to take part in National Park Week include actual park visits as well as virtual adventures.
- Plan a trip. Visit the famous geysers of Yellowstone in Wyoming, or the impressive cliffs and canyons of Zion in Utah. There are over 400 parks to choose from.
- Volunteer your time. The National Park Service has a variety of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages and groups of all sizes. Registered volunteers who contribute 201.6 hours of their time this year will earn a Centennial Volunteer Challenge Coin.
- Visit findyourpark.com to create your own unique national park adventure. The site offers numerous virtual experiences. You can “eClimb” to the top of the Grand Teton, or learn more about national parks by watching some great documentaries.
