A Web of Culture is beginning an FDF Judges blog series, profiling the judges that have contributed significantly to FDF, folk dance, and the Greek community.
This month the spotlight is on Renee Cleary, who came to FDF in 1981 and has been either a costume or dance judge at every festival since 1985.
Cleary has extensive knowledge of all things Greek dance. She was part of a performing dance group for thirteen years, seven of which she served as director. Cleary has also travelled throughout Greece, researching and collecting both costumes and dances and bringing her knowledge back to FDF. She has been involved with Greek dance for 40 years, taking part in seminars, workshops, and teaching Greek Dance at Fullerton College.
