Connecting People, Traditions & Generations

This year, FDF comes to San Diego for the 8th time since it began in 1976. The 2017 Greek Orthodox Folk Dance & Choral Festival will take place at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in Mission Valley. Though the FDF schedule is packed with events, if you’re from out of town you may want to take advantage of the time you have in San Diego to explore the city.

Mission Valley is located in the center of San Diego, which means you’ll be just minutes away from many activities and attractions. The Town and Country is right next to the San Diego Trolley, making it easy to get around even without a rental car. Here are a few suggestions for what to do while you’re in town.

Fashion Valley | This upscale outdoor mall is within walking distance from the Town and Country. It features designer stores, great restaurants, and a movie theater.

Old Town | Called the birthplace of San Diego, Old Town celebrates the city’s history as well as its Spanish and Mexican heritage. Browse vibrant shops, enjoy some Mexican food, and visit the allegedly haunted Whaley House.

Beaches | The Town and Country is just five miles from the water! While it may be a little cold for swimming, visit one of San Diego’s many beaches for a picnic lunch or a walk along the sand. You can also go on a whale watching excursion to see gray whales on their migration from Alaska to Mexico.

Balboa Park | Beautiful Balboa Park encompasses museums, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo. Get half price admission to museums in Balboa Park and across San Diego as part of San Diego Museum Month.

SeaWorld | A day at SeaWorld is fun for the whole family. Go on rides, watch live shows, and see whales, dolphins, sea lions, penguins, polar bears, and more up close.
