This video is an inspiring example of traditional Byzantine chanting. The choir of Simonopetra has published a series of collections that are renowned among Byzantine music enthusiasts. Agni Parthene, which translates to “O Pure Virgin,” is the most popular Byzantine chant and has earned the monastery widespread recognition.

The Simonopetra Monastery is comprised of various multi-storied buildings and has been described as the “most bold construction of the Mount Athos peninsula.” The structure sits on top of a single rock and hangs from a cliff almost 330 meters above the sea.
