This year, FDF comes to San Diego for the 8th time since it began in 1976. The 2017 Greek Orthodox Folk Dance & Choral Festival will take place at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in Mission Valley. Though the FDF schedule is packed with events, if you’re from out of town you may want to take advantage of the time you have in San Diego to explore the city.
The upcoming San Diego Greek Festival, hosted by St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, will be a weekend filled with traditional Greek music, dance, food, and fun. The festival runs from Friday, June 10th to Sunday, June 12th.
Congratulations! First Place in Division 1 in the Choral Competition at FDF 2016 went to the St. Spyridon Youth Choir from San Diego.
Spring and summer are the seasons to eat, drink, and dance your way through Greek festivals across the United States. Typically church-sponsored, the celebrations feature musicians playing traditional Greek instruments, stands with Greek coffee, beer and wine, an agora (marketplace) with Greek specialties, children’s entertainment and the opportunity to learn Greek dancing.
