What was it like to be at the first FDF held in 1976? An article written by Aris Yortzidis in the 2004 edition of the Oli Mazi compares it to the 2nd annual Youth Folk Dance Festival hosted by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Buenos Aires and South America. Yortzidis, an FDF judge, and a member of the FDF Board of Trustees and Director of Outreach & PR at that time, was one of the judges at the 2º Juvenil de Danzas Griegas (Spanish). Find out why he “felt like the luckiest man on earth” while watching the Greek dancers.
Prepare to be amazed the first time you visit the annual Greek Orthodox Folk Dance & Choral Competition (FDF).
It’s a big subject, even when you narrow it down to a history of the Greek Orthodox Youth Folk Dance & Choral Festival, or FDF. Almost 40 years of history to cover. Many of the key people involved in FDF haven’t told their stories or widely shared their abundant knowledge. Why not contact them and give them an opportunity to record their recollections?
