A Web of Culture is starting an FDF Musicians blog series, featuring artists that have played at the Greek Orthodox Folk Dance and Choral Festival. This week we present Endasi, a trio that has been making Greek music since 2003.
Endasi is made up of John Themelis, Dimitri Papadimitriou, and Dimitrios Dallas, occasionally featuring Sarantos Kaperonis and Theofilos Kouremetis. Each of the band members play multiple modern and traditional Greek instruments, including the daouli, lyra, accordion, and saxophone. This mixture allows Endasi to perform traditional Greek music as well as more modern styles. The band performs at events across the United States.
Endasi has played at FDF multiple times. The video above is from their performance at the 2014 FDF.
